Moon Sweepers Multiplayer: How Co-op Works

Independent Moon Sweepers guide by mooncleaning.net.

Moon Sweepers supports solo play or an online crew of up to 16, including the host. Official 1.0.3 notes made the upgrade matrix crew-wide; Wikily describes the host world, shared wallet and personal tools/vehicles. The table distinguishes official changes from single-source session details and does not assume local splitscreen support.

Evidence: the 16-player limit agrees between Steam and independent guides. Shared upgrade-matrix behavior agrees between official 1.0.3 and Wikily. Wallet, waypoints, personal vehicles, host exit behavior and invite details are Wikily single-source specifics unless separately stated by the patch.

Everyone needs the same build. 1.0.3, 1.0.4, and 1.0.5 shipped within a few days of launch, so a friend on an older depot will fail to join until Steam finishes the update. The host can kick or ban from the Esc menu under Your Crew, and a ban blocks that save until the host undoes it. Patch 1.0.5 asks for confirmation before you start a public game or switch the crew to public, and it explains what other players can do. I would read that prompt. This site does not have a packet capture of a failed join, so "multiplayer not working" beyond version, host, and ban is on the troubleshooting page as far as the public reports go.

The platform check verified only the Windows release. No console crossplay, local splitscreen, dedicated-server tooling or host migration was verified. The embedded stream is optional context, not evidence of the editor watching a session. See the beginner guide and patch history.

Questions people type

How many players can join Moon Sweepers?

Steam lists online co-op up to 16. The Wikily multiplayer page says everyone plays on the host's Moon.

Are upgrades shared?

The official 1.0.3 notes say the whole crew uses the host's upgrade matrix, and anyone's purchase upgrades everyone. Tools and vehicles stay personal, paid from the crew wallet.

Is there splitscreen or crossplay?

No local splitscreen or console crossplay was listed in the checked official sources. Only the Windows/Steam build was verified. Crewmates need compatible matching game versions.

Why can't my friend join?

Version mismatch is the first check. The host leaving ends the session. 1.0.3 added host kick and ban. A public game warning was added in 1.0.5.
